Unified Wired and Wireless Support The HP JL253A Aruba 2930F offers seamless integration of wired and wireless networks. With Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager, unified policies ensure consistent security and management. When an Aruba access point is detected, the switch auto-configures settings such as VLAN, CoS, PoE max. power, and PoE priority.

User Role and Policy Management User Role defines switch-based policies in security, authentication, and QoS. This role can be assigned to user groups or devices, either locally or downloaded from ClearPass. Aruba Dynamic Segmentation enforces user, device, and application-aware policies for enhanced network simplicity and security. It provides automated device profiling, role-based access control, and Layer 7 firewall features.

Dynamic Segmentation for Security Aruba’s Dynamic Segmentation establishes secure tunnels for per-port or per-user role based traffic transport to an Aruba Controller. With Tunnel Node and ClearPass authentication, traffic is directed to an Aruba controller or switch for improved security and control.

Software-Defined Networks The switch supports REST APIs and OpenFlow 1.0 and 1.3, enabling programmatic interfaces for network automation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Quality of Service (QoS) Prioritize traffic with IEEE 802.1p classification into eight priority levels mapped to eight queues. Layer 4 prioritization based on TCP/UDP port numbers further refines QoS.

Connectivity Options Select models feature built-in 10 Gbps Ethernet uplinks (4 x SFP+), enhancing connectivity and performance. The 12-port fanless model includes 12 x 1 Gbps Ethernet PoE+ ports and four built-in uplinks (2 x SFP+ and 2 x 1GBASE-T).

Power and Ethernet Features The HP JL253A supports IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE+), providing up to 30 W per port. This feature accommodates PoE+-capable devices like IP phones, wireless access points, and security cameras. It eliminates the need for additional electrical cabling and circuits in IP phone and WLAN deployments.

IPv6 Support The switch is IPv6-ready, allowing management in an IPv6 network. It supports dual stack transition, MLD snooping, IPv6 ACL/QoS, IPv6 routing, and various security features for comprehensive IPv6 compatibility.
